Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-smart way for donors age 70½ or older to support students in Westminster Public Schools. By transferring up to $108,000 per year directly from a traditional or inherited IRA to the Westminster Public Schools Foundation, you can meet all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD) without the gift being counted as taxable income. Because the distribution goes directly to the Foundation, it may help reduce your overall tax burden while making a meaningful impact for students. Please consult your tax advisor to determine if a QCD is right for you.

How to Give via QCD to Westminster Public Schools Foundation

Follow these simple steps to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution in support of WPS students:

☐ Confirm eligibility
You must be 70½ or older and have a qualifying IRA (traditional, inherited, inactive SEP, or inactive SIMPLE IRA).

☐ Contact your IRA custodian
Request a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) made directly to the charity.

☐ Provide our organization’s information

  • Legal name: Westminster Public Schools Foundation
  • Mailing address: 7002 Raleigh Street, Westminster, CO 80030
  • Tax ID (EIN): 84-1088489

☐ Designate your gift (optional)
If you would like your gift to support a specific program (such as basic needs or student opportunities), ask your custodian to include a memo with the check.

☐ Complete the gift by December 31
To count toward your required minimum distribution for the year, your QCD must be completed by December 31.

☐ Let us know
Please notify the Foundation when your gift is on the way so we can ensure proper acknowledgment and thank you for your generosity. Email wpsfinfo@wps.org or call 720-542-5067

You have the power to change a student’s future.

When you give today, you’re not just contributing— you’re becoming a part of their story.
